Poetry Pathfinder - Literary Criticism

This guide will help you to find literary criticism regarding your selected poet’s work. If you are having difficulty finding or using these resources please ask a librarian for assistance.  We are here to help you be successful in your search for information.

Library’s Online Catalog: Check here to see if we have a book specifically dealing with your

                                               poet and his work.

Reference Books:

Poetry Criticism (PC): Check the cumulative Index of Volume 25. Author Index. This index is not just an index for Poetry Criticism, but for other Gale Criticism series as well. Look first for PC in the listing and then CLC. Volume numbers will be listed and once in the volume, poets are listed alphabetically or you may use the table of contents.

Poetry for students: Check in Volume 16 cumulative author/title index for correct volume. A poem title and volume will be listed.  Table of contents for each volume is arranged by poem title.  Check table of contents for specific pages. Criticisms when available are at the end of the article.

Contemporary Literature Criticism (CLC): Check the author index for your poet. This index is not just an index for CLC, but lists other Gale Criticism books as well.  CLC and PC are the most useful for this project.

(Contemporary Literature Criticism is also available online through MARVEL. (see below)
